@kathleen landry,
Hi Kathleen - you will want to go to the main site at www.trieft.org/ or www.iceeft.com to find training information. What training are you looking for?

@Belinda Hugo,
Probably more differences than similarities. Both utilize attachment theory but EFT is present focused and not based on skill development. EFT also has the strongest outcome research of any couple therapy.

Sounds like it doesn't hurt to give it a try. You will need to put the drinking into the cycle if he's abusing it.

Best of luck.

1st time using this, not sure if I'm in the right spot but this is what I would like info on:

I'm considering taking on a couple who is currently separated. Both have experienced trauma. She appears to have developed classic borderline traits to cope with the trauma. He appears to have learned to cope through drugs and alcohol, as well as depression. Both are LDS, he was dis-fellowshiped for abandonment. She wants couples therapy and wants to save the marriage. He is willing to go to counseling. Neither work or are willing to work. The church supports her, his mother supports him. His role with two early-teen kids is that of a friend or brother, not a parent. He currently drinks, but is not using drugs.

While the biggest part of me want to avoid this mess, another part thinks that I can help.

Suggestions and thoughts to help me make a decision? -Eric

Thank you for even small training sessions like this. It seems anything is welcome when one is involved as a beginner with a new approch. The video reinforced the need to tape and analyze your work and to learn from both mistakes and sucesses.

Thanks again for the help and it just reinforces to me how sincere you are in trying to be of help and to bring us along. Heart is everything and I am impressed by the good hearts you display in our behalf.

Thanks for taking the time to put this video together. It helps give perspective to what is involved in acquiring the EFT skills to become certified. It gave me a lot of hope to watch and listen to Gordon as he honestly shared about the real work and self evaluation necessary to become competent in this theory. I have just returned from the externship in Salt Lake City. This video helped to remind me of principles I learned in my four days there. I am looking forward to furthering my growth in EFT and in bringing a greater awareness of this effective therapy to the Las Vegas area.

Watching the video gave me an 'updraft' feeling with my learning EFT. It encouraged me to make more time for reviewing sessions, tape watching, improving how I speak to clients re: taping, and understanding the process of what it takes to learn EFT (even with a good deal of experience with other methods). Thank you, Gordon, for your honest sharing.

And thank you Becca (and anyone else involved) for your time and effort in making the video. It's such a gift. This is the first time I've experienced a training with such a level of concrete support and resources for its members. I'm quite blown away by the generosity of what you are providing within the EFT community. We are very lucky to have you!

Thank you!
